About Me

Hello, my name is Karren Baker and I am a graduate student at University of Tennessee, getting a Master’s in Information Sciences. This semester I am studying Social Informatics. This blog is part of an assignment that I hope to keep going after class.

A little about me — I am a mediator, a lawyer, an archivist, a genealogist and a beekeeper. I have studied and practiced how technology intersects with all of these disparate interests. I am deeply interested in how technology and culture influence each of these fields, and social informatics helps me understand all of these disciplines. In this blog I will explore how the intersection of technology and culture has affected my life in each of these areas, and how it is all interrelated. I hope you will follow along.
